Position: CPA / Senior Accountant – AI Bookkeeping Workflows (Remote, Contract)

Role Overview
Mercor is partnering with a leading AI lab to hire CPAs and experienced accountants to help build realistic bookkeeping environments for training next-generation AI systems.
In this role, you’ll simulate real-world accounting workflows and evaluate how AI performs across core financial processes—directly influencing how AI is used in finance and accounting.
What You’ll Work On
- Design and simulate **real-world bookkeeping workflows**
- Contribute to scenarios involving:
- Data entry and transaction classification
- Schedules and accruals
- Account reconciliations
- Variance analysis and reporting
- Help evaluate and improve AI-generated outputs for accuracy and usability
- Provide insights to make AI systems more reliable in accounting contexts
Ideal Candidate
- CPA or seasoned accountant with strong practical experience
- Background in bookkeeping, general accounting, audit, or financial reporting
- Strong understanding of:
- Accruals and schedules
- Reconciliation processes
- Financial analysis and variance reporting
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical thinking
- Comfortable working independently in a remote setup
Work Setup
- Fully remote – work from anywhere
- Flexible schedule (work on your own time)
- Project-based with potential extensions based on performance
Contract & Payment Terms
- Independent contractor engagement
- Weekly payments via **Stripe or Wise**

- Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on needs and performance
